A press cutting from Stuttgart the 30/1 and 31/1 2012 after concert performances of Poulenc`s Gloria. The Swedish soprano, Jeanette Köhn sings the ”Dominus Deus” in exalted oboe-like lucidity and that plea for mercy, ”Misere Nobis” soars in chromatic splendour. A wonderfully clear and differentiated vocal performance that ennobles Poulenc`s expressive rhetoric. The Chantry of Gächingen and particularly Jeanette Köhn, the soprano soloist impressed with their pristine sounds. The soprano has to rise repeatedly to challenging elevations and achieve the balancing act between presence and ethereal ascension. For this Jeanette Köhn has the perfect voice, yielding and joining the unison discreetly only to let go and completely release her voice in the higher tonalities. |
